What's the difference between attachments?
 |
Resins - These are diamonds
usually (but not always) intended for polishing or
light grinding. They are shaped like pancakes
and have a Velcro back for attaching to the grinder
head. These are available in 3" Dry, 3" Wet,
and 5" Combo. |
 |
Metals - These diamonds are
noticeable more aggressive then resins. They
also have a Velcro backing, and can be run wet or
dry. Running them wet increases their
aggressiveness and life. |
 |
Rings -
Rings can have either resin or
metal diamonds on them, and are build for specific
lines of grinders. |
 |
Trapezoid
- The most aggressive type of
diamond available. Usually used for removal of
the initial coat of dirt, oil, or thin mill coating
(including thinset/mortar). Because they are
so much more aggressive, these screw to the head
(instead of Velcro). |
 |
PCD's
(Poly-Carbonate Diamonds) - Used for
heavy stock removal, these tear through a coating by
making deep, wide scratches. Really hard
coatings like epoxy, densified concrete, and mortars
are the most popular applications for this product. |
 |
Cup Wheels - Similar to rings,
cup wheels are used on hand grinders and edgers.
Because of the high speed at which hand grinders and
edgers spin, cup wheels are extremely aggressive and
can generally flatten high spots faster then
standard size floor grinders. |
